John Mulaney is an American comedian, writer, and actor. Through his stand-up career, he has developed a reputation for his unique and offbeat style of comedy and for telling stories from his personal life in an often deadpan manner.
He was born in 1982 to a Jewish family in Newton, Massachusetts. His father was a taxi driver who left the family when Mulaney was still young; he has not seen him since then. When Mulaney was 8 years old, his mother died of congestive heart failure caused by watching her son struggle with dyslexia for most of his life.
Mulaney later attended New York University, where he studied acting but dropped out after one year to pursue comedy full-time.
